摘要

In 1978, the Department of Energy (DOE) published a Final Rule containing test211u001eprocedures for measuring the efficiency and energy consumption of conventional 211u001eranges, ovens, cooking tops, and microwave ovens. Based on a number of technical 211u001econcerns, including a request from the Association of Home Appliance 211u001eManufacturers (AHAM) to adopt the International Electrotechnical Commossion's 211u001eStandard 705 and Amendment 2 as the test method for testing microwave ovens, DOE 211u001einitiated a revision of the standard in 1993. NIST performed energy efficiency 211u001eand energy consumptio measurements consistent with the Proposed Rule on five 211u001ehousehold kitchen cooking appliances. The specific appliances tested included an 211u001eelectric oven, a gas oven, an electric cooking top, a gas cooking top, and a 211u001emicrowave oven. A series of tests were performed on each appliance to evaluate 211u001ethe feasibility of implementing the test methods within the Proposed Rule and the 211u001eaccurnacy of the results. The test results for the ovens and cooking tops were 211u001erepeatable with good accuracy, while the accuracy and repeatability of the 211u001emicrowave oven tests were dependent on the measurement equipment and details of 211u001ethe test method. This report contains a discussion of the procedures and a 211u001esummary of the test results.
