This literature study has been written as a first introduction to the topic of211u001ethe behavior of steel-concrete composite frames in fire conditions. Individual 211u001etopics of the study include the change in material and stiffness properties of 211u001esteel and concrete, thermal elongation of structural members, restraining effects 211u001eof the surrounding structures, the effects of thermal gradients, internal 211u001estresses and deflections, the effects of the slenderness ratio of structural 211u001emembers, the effects of connections between structural members, and the effect of 211u001ethe load ratio in fire design. The main conclusion drawn from the articles 211u001eincluded in this study is that during a fire there is considerable redistribution 211u001eof forces in structures. A most important role is played by the composite action 211u001eof the steel beam and the concrete slab.
