摘要

Water samples were collected weekly from June 12 to August 14, 1995, from Big211u001eSpring Run (BSR) in West Virginia. BSR originates in Big Spring Cave, where three 211u001estream samples were collected. In addition, 18 BSR sites were sampled down-stream 211u001efrom the cave, three from its tributaries, and one above and below the stream's 211u001econfluence with Elklick Run. Along its length (653 m), the geology is Greebrier 211u001elimestone in the headwaters, Pocono sandstone in the midsection and Hampshire 211u001esandstone and shale in the downstream section. As a result, water chemistry was 211u001estrongly influenced by biogeochemical and hydrologic processes.
