Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Report: Fire Fighter Dies as a211 Result of a Cardiac Arrest at the Scene of a Reported Structure Fire, Indiana, 211 November 7, 1998

On November 7, 1998, a 50-year-old male Captain collapsed at the scene of a211u001ereported structural fire. Despite CPR and ALS administered by the fire fighters, 211u001eemergency medical technicians/paramedics, and hospital emergency department 211u001epersonnel, the victim died on November 7, 1998. NIOSH was notified of this 211u001efatality on November 9, 1998, by the United States Fire Administration. On 211u001eJanuary 19, 1999, NIOSH telephoned the affected fire department to initiate the 211u001einvestigation.
