An efficient large eddy simulation algorithm is used to compute mean surface211u001epressure distributions on an isolated building of various rectangular shapes. Two 211u001eincoming mean wind profiles are considered in these computations, one uniform 211u001ewith height and the other increasing as a power law with height. The second 211u001eprofile accounts for flow retardation due to friction from the surface of the 211u001eearth; in neither case are turbulent fluctuations included in the work. Mean 211u001epressure distributions are computed for a tall building (1 by 1 by 8, length by 211u001ewidth by height), a cubical building and a flat building (1 by 1 by 0.5). These 211u001ecomputational results are compared with wind tunnel measurements and computations 211u001eperformed by other investigators. The agreement in most cases is very good with 211u001edifferences of approximately twenty percent at most.
