This research focuses on modeling early-age behavior of both concrete pavements211u001eand bonded concrete overlay (BCO)'s subjected to stresses from moisture and 211u001ethermal changes. It includes the development of a two-part, versatile, 211u001ecomprehensive set of guidelines that provide direction in the proper selection of 211u001edesign and construction variables to minimize early-age damage to the portland 211u001ecement concrete pavement (PCCP) and BCO. The first part of these guidelines is 211u001equalitative in nature and is based upon the results of this effort, past 211u001eexperience, and engineering judgement. They are intended to identify design and 211u001econstruction inputs that are most likely to lead to good behavior during the 211u001eearly-age period. The end product from this research is a comprehensive software 211u001epackage termed HIgh PERformance PAVing (HIPERPAV). This package, which 211u001eincorporates the complex models developed, can be used as a stand-alone product 211u001eto verify the overall effect of specific combinations of design, construction, 211u001eand environmental inputs on early-age behavior of a PCCP and BCO.
