The objective of this study is to develop several guidelines for determining when211u001eto remove substandard handrails, taking into account safety considerations, 211u001estructural integrity, and cost effectiveness. Eliminating any rigid object in or 211u001enear the roadway will allow use of the roadway by wide farm equipment and may 211u001emake for a safer road environment.
