Systems Integration for Manufacturing Applications, 1998 Annual Report

The Systems Integration for Manufacturing Applications (SIMA) Program is an211u001eintramural effort being undertaken at the National Institute of Standards and 211u001etechnology (NIST) to support the application of information technologies to the 211u001emanufacturing domain. Initiated in 1994, the Program works with industry to 211u001edevelop technology solutions enabling integration of the systems used in the 211u001eengineering and manufacturing of various kinds of products. The purpose of this 211u001edocument is to report on two fiscal years of the Program's technical activities; 211u001e1997 and 1998 (FY97-FY98). The intended audience for this document includes 211u001eprivate sector organizations and federal agencies collaborating with NIST, other 211u001eagencies participating in the federal Computing, Information, and Communications 211u001e(CIC) effort, and the general public. This report is available via the SIMA web 211u001epage (http://www.nist.gov/sima/) or by electronic mail request to the SIMA 211u001eProgram Office secretary. This report is comprised of three major sections: the 211u001eSIMA Overview, the Project Accomplishments, and the Appendices. The SIMA Overview 211u001esection provides a high-level description of the Program's goals, technical 211u001eefforts, results, and progress. The Project Accomplishments section provides 211u001eindividual descriptions for each of the projects funded by SIMA in FY97 and FY98. 211u001eEach project description includes a summary of the project's technical 211u001eaccomplishments along with a list of the project's collaborators. The Appendices 211u001eto the report include a description of the organization of the Program (Appendix 211u001eA), tables summarizng all collaborators enumerated in each of the project 211u001edescriptions (Appendix B), a list of publications completed by the projects 211u001e(Appendix C), and a list of products available from the projects (Appendix D).
