CORBA Compliant Transactional Workflow System for Internet Applications

The paper describes an application composition and execution environment211u001eimplemented as a transactional workflow system that enables sets of inter-related 211u001etasks to be carried out and supervised in a dependable manner. The paper 211u001edescribes how the system meets the requirements of interoperability, scalability, 211u001eflexible task composition, dependability and dynamic reconfiguration. The system 211u001eis general purpose and open: it has been designed and implemented as a set of 211u001eCORBA services, running on top of a given ORB. The system serves as an example of 211u001ethe use of middleware technologies to provide a fault-tolerant execution 211u001eenvironment for long running distributed applications.
