Efficient Simulation Techniques for Multiservice Loss Systems

Modern broadband networks have been designed to integrate several service types211u001einto the same network. On the call scale, the process describing the number of 211u001ecalls present in the network can be modeled by a loss system. In principle, loss 211u001esystems are mathematically simple and well understood, and one is able to write 211u001edown exact expressions for such things as the blocking probability of a call 211u001ebelonging to a given class. However, for systems of realistic size in terms of 211u001ethe number and the capacity of the links and the number of traffic classes, such 211u001eanalytical expressions defy a direct evaluation because of the huge size of the 211u001estate space.
