The report details a five-year study of the performance of the epoxy (polymer)211u001econcrete wearing surface placed on the orthotrohic steel-plate deck of the Polar 211u001eStreet Bridge in St. Louis, Missouri. This study invovled inspections, field 211u001etesting and laboratory experiments and analyses. During the first few years, the 211u001efocus was on the field study components. Later when some cracks were observed on 211u001ethe wearing surface, a detailed experimental and analytical investigation was 211u001eincorporated to understand the cause of the cracks and study potential crack-211u001erepair procedures. Laboratory experiments were undertaken to study the 211u001etemperature-dependent mechanical properties of the polymer concrete materials 211u001eused on the bridge deck. Experiments included a series of static flexural tests, 211u001eaxial compression tests and flexural fatigue tests on the polymer concrete 211u001especimens under three different test temperatures. Temperature-dependent 211u001emechanical properties such as modulus of elasticity and fatigue strength were 211u001eobtained from the tests.
