The purpose of Demonstration Project 103 was to introduce the concept of soil211u001enailing use into the American transportation construction practice. The Manual 211u001efor Design and Construction Monitoring of Soil Nail Walls (FHWA-SA-96-069R) and 211u001eSoil Nailing Field Inspectors Manual (FHWA-SA-93-068) were published as a part of 211u001ethis demonstration project. Also, GOLDNAIL (soil nail design software) wad 211u001edeveloped and distributed thru this demonstration project. This report is a 211u001esummary of the activities of Demonstration Project 103. It includes the history, 211u001econcept, construction procedures and cost data for soil nail walls.
