The Traffic Engineering Research Laboratory or 'TERL' as it is also called,211u001eexists as a joint research facility between FDOT and FAMU-FSU COE. The main 211u001eobjective is to conduct, support and nurture applied research, standards and 211u001especifications development along with providing help with the evaluation and 211u001etesting of ITS and traffic engineering technologies. The TERL provides facilities 211u001eand staff accessible to the federal and other state transportation agencies for 211u001echaracterization, testing, and evaluation of ITS equipment and subcomponents. 211u001eThese transportation agencies have open access to a traffic engineering database 211u001emaintained by the TERL. Undergraduate and graduate education in transportation 211u001etechnologies and systems will be coordinated through FAMU-FSU COE.
