Because of its urgent nature and the potentially devastating impact it could have211u001eon critical government operations, in February 1997, the authors designated the 211u001eYear 2000 problem as a high-risk area for the federal government. The author 211u001ehighlights the Year 2000 risks facing the nation, discusses the federal 211u001egovernment's progress and remaining challenges in correcting its systems, 211u001eidentify state and local government year 2000 issues, and provide an overview of 211u001ethe available information on the readiness of key public infrastructure and 211u001eeconomic sectors.
