Real-Time Flow Estimation Model for Advanced Urban Traffic Control

The project developed and evaluated a new model: Turning Movement Estimation in211u001eReal Time (TMERT) that infers unknown traffic flows from measured volumes in 211u001esparsely detectorsized networks. The model will eliminate the need for costly 211u001eturning movement detectors or surveys. The estimates can serve as 'virtual' 211u001edetectors to provide reliable traffic flow information across an entire network.
