Production and Consumption Potentials for Bioenergy in Finland to the Year 2010

The aim of the study was to provide potentials of bioenergy in energy production211u001ein Finland for the years 1995-2010. The scenario approach was chosen to present a 211u001eset of possible futures in a situation where policies and actions of authorities 211u001econtribute significantly to the future. The Basic Scenario is a present policy 211u001escenario that leads to a significant improvement in the competitiveness of 211u001ebioenergy compared to fossil fuels. In the Minimum Scenario, promotion of 211u001ebioenergy is reduced and the growth of energy demand is slow. The Maximum 211u001eScenario represents the highest reasonable penetration of bioenergy. Individual 211u001einvestigation of over 400 largest possible bioenergy users were carried out to 211u001emaximize the reliability of results. The study was limited to heat and power 211u001eproduction excluding transportation and liquid biofuels.
