McGregor Range, New Mexico Land Withdrawal Renewal: Water Well Inventory

Approximately 608,000 acres of land comprising the McGregor Range of Fort Bliss,211u001eTexas and New Mexico were made available to the Department of the Army for 211u001etraining and weapons testing through the Military Lands Withdrawal Act (MLWA) of 211u001e1986. Requirements for renewal in the MLWA include application to the Department 211u001eof the Interior (DOI). DOI regulations addressing land withdrawals, set forth in 211u001e43 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Parts 2300 to 2374, along with the 211u001erequirements of the MLWA, specify information that must by submitted and studies 211u001ethat must be performed to support DOI consideration of the Army's application. 211u001eThe literature search and field investigation, completed as part of the 'McGregor 211u001eRange Land Withdrawal Renewal Water Requirements and Resources Assessment' 211u001e(MWRA), revealed 51 wells or drill sites on or adjacent to McGregor Range, 211u001eincluding 45 sites on the range and six off the range. The MWRA recommended 211u001ecompletion of a detailed inventory to locate and evaluate all wells on McGregor 211u001eRange. The inventory would include the accurate location and a description of the 211u001econdition of each well.
