The Burlington Northern Car Ship site (Site) is located in Waite Park (City),211u001eStearns County, Minnesota. The Waite Park Ground Water Contamination site is 211u001ecurrently in the EPA Enforcement Deferral Pilot Project which gives the Minnesota 211u001ePollution Control Agency (MPCA) the lead agency responsibility for the Site. The 211u001eMPCA is overseeing the Site cleanup conducted by the Responsible Party, the 211u001eBurlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad Company (BNSF). An Integrated Remedy 211u001ewill be used to address impacted soil at the Site. Approximately 60,000 cubic 211u001eyards of impacted soil, exceeding cleanup levels, has been excavated from Areas 211u001eA, B, C, and H stockpiled. This soil will be stabilized and hauled to an off-Site 211u001eLandfill. Solidification/Stabilization and Off-Site Landfill was an acceptable 211u001ealternative presented in the July 14, 1994, ROD.
