摘要

Helsinki University of Technology is the largest and oldest technical university in Finland, and in fact the second oldest of all Finnish universities. The University had its origin in the establishment of first technical school in Helsinki in 1849 and thus celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1999. Being originally situated in the very centre of Helsinki, the university has not completely moved to a modern campus in Otaniemi approximately 10 km west of Helsinki. The teaching and research of the university covers most fields of science and technology, including architecture. The total enrollment in the university is about 13000 students and out of them approximately 15% are graduate students.
