摘要

The World Food Summit of 1996 provided an opportunity to focus attention on efforts to address hunger and food security. This national report discusses what the United States has done to address international and domestic commitments on food security, and key achievements, best practices, and lessons learned from both government agencies and civil society groups to share with the international community as well as U.S. stakeholders. The report also highlights that the U.S. Government and civil society now know what actions and investments would cut hunger in half both domestically and internationally. The development of the U.S. Action Plan on Food Security has raised the profile of food security and has enhanced communication and coordination between government and civil society for more effective action in furthering food security goals and greater coherence among private and public food security programs.
