Impact of the Termination of NASA's High Speed Research Program and The Redirection of NASA's Advanced Subsonic Technology Program.

The report responds to a request in the FY 2000 VA-HUD-IA appropriations bill to review the impact of the termination of NASA's High Speed Research (HSR) program and the redirection of NASA's Advanced Subsonic Technology (AST) program. The decisions resulted in increases in research leading to improvements in aviation safety and did not adversely affect NASA's core competencies or the United States' aviation industry.
