Improvement of Pulp Mill Energy Efficiency in an Integrated Pulp and Paper Mill

Finland is among the most advanced countries in the world in the development anduse of energy efficient technology. Minimising the specific energy demand of industrial processes is one of the main objectives. This report examines a case focusing on the improvement of pulp mill energy efficiency by saving steam with process modifications. A method of simple rules based on thermodynamic principles and process integration is applied. The findings confirm that technologically and financially feasible opportunities can be found-even in an energy efficient mill.
