The President made the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) a top priority.Nanotechnology thrives from modern advances in chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, medical, and materials research and will contribute to cross-disciplinary training of the 21st century science and technology workforce. The Administration believes that nanotechnology will have a profound impact on our economy and society in the early 21st century, perhaps comparable to that of information technology or of cellular, genetic, and molecular biology.
