摘要

The development and adoption of new technology to reduce foodborne illness iscritical to maintain food safety and at the same time provide chances to improve the safety of the food supply. Riley Memorial Foundation with four federal agencies and two trade associations, coordinated a work conference with the theme, 'dentification and removal of barriers to the adoption of technologies to reduce foodborne illness.' Since enhanced communication surfaced as an overarching critical need, it continued to be a priority as conferees identified various barriers and pursued approaches to removing them. Approaches included encouraging adoption of technologies in a process that would remove technical and regulatory barriers, thus, developing incentives in eliminating economic barriers and increasing consumer acceptance.
