Wages, Benefits, Poverty Line, and Meeting Workers' Needs in the Apparel and Footwear Industries of Selected Countries.

This study focuses on these industries in 35 major apparel and/or footwear exporting countries and the United States, and addresses issues related to the minimum wage, the prevailing or average wage, non-wage benefits, measures of workers basic needs (the poverty line), and the extent to which wages meet such needs. Part I examines definitions and measures related to these subjects, and Part II provides available information on these items for each of the countries examined. The study was conducted to gather available information on these subjects and inform public discussions of these issues.
