This Checklist has been designed specifically to aid public and privateorganizations serving older persons. It can be used to survey one's own organization as well as to identify other facilities serving older persons which may benefit from an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access survey. All types of facilities are covered under the ADA with the exception of privately-owned permanent housing, religious facilities, and private clubs. This Checklist is designed for use in a wide range of settings including organizations that provide services for older persons such as area agencies on aging, legal aid offices, senior centers, nursing homes, doctors' offices or hospital rooms, auditoriums, theaters, restaurants, cafeterias, and retail establishments such as pharmacies.
