The parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport and Communications were interviewed about the National Transport Plans suitability as input to strategic and comprehensive political decision-making. The politicians view introducing a common plan for all transport modes as an improvement, but public transport should receive more attention in the plan. The plan is also marred by repetitions. The strategies outlining policy alternatives are judged too theoretical and apolitical. The methodology does not provide meaningful input to the political process. Politicians are primarily interested in different issues and effects than the strategies and impact assessments provides. Some representatives express a feeling of impotence when confronted by the technocratic methodology employed in the plan. The report also contains recommendations for making the National Transport Plan more suitable as input to the political process.
