摘要

An experimental study of the influence of geometrical simplifications of a KE-projectile has been performed at FOI. The shape of the projectile has been simplified in different steps, going from a 'real' projectile geometry with pointed nose, fins and sabot attachments, to a straight cylinder with flat end-surfaces. The impact velocity was the same in all tests, 1800 m/s. The target was an oblique plate, 60deg obliqueity and one projectile diameter thick. These laboratory tests (reverse ballistic tests) show good reproducibility, which is important when making parametric studies. The tests also show that no real simplifications can be made when studying a specific projectile and target configuration in model experiments as well as in full-scale tests.
