摘要

In this work model tests to simulate the global ship motion during the grounding event have been performed. The main goal of the tests have been to produce experimental data for the verification of a theoretical grounding model. To achieve this, a new kind of model testing technique was developed, where the bottom of the small scale (1:45) ship model was replaced by soft urethane-material. In modeling the impact, the aim was that the grounding forces in the tests would be on a realistic level after scaling. The grounding forces (xyz) and ship motion were measured during the experiments. By varying the speed of the model and the point of initial impact, many different kinds of damages were archived. Two types of ship models (a tanker and a RoRo) were used in the experiments.
