Reference Measuring System for ESD Impulses.

Reference measuring system for electrostatic contact discharges (ESD) at Helsinki University of Technology, High Voltage Institute is described. The components of the system are described and their contributions to the uncertainty evaluations are estimated. Measurement uncertainties due to frequency response of the measuring system is estimated with convolution calculations. The ESD-pulse peak value uncertainty is lowered to acceptable level with the use of corrections based on errors from the convolution. The uncertainty of the ESD peak value is from 3 to 4 % (k=2) depending on the pulse shape and the uncertainty of the risetime is 6 % (k=2).
