Traceable Measurement of the Magnetic Susceptibility of Weakly-Magnetic Mass Standards.

Magnetic forces can adversely affect precise weighings. The performance of a magnetic susceptometer, intended amongst others for the determination of the magnetic properties of mass standards, is investigated systematically in this work. Measurements are made with the susceptometer of a variety of weakly-magnetized objects of different materials over a range of relative permeabilities between 1.00013 and 1.12, including novel permeability standards.
