The goal of the DNA Backlog Reduction Program is to assist eligible States and units of local government in reducing the number of forensic DNA and DNA database samples awaiting analysis. The objective of our audit was to review performance in the following areas: (1) internal control environment, (2) federal financial reports and progress reports, (3) drawdowns, (4) budget management and control, (5) expenditures, (6) contract management, (7) program income, and (8) program performance and accomplishments.
