In August 2000, approximately 500 people assembled in Scottsdale, Arizona, toparticipate in the Second National Conference on Transportation Finance. The public sector was represented by federal, state, and local government officials. Private-sector participants included investment bankers, design and construction professionals, attorneys, developers, credit analysts, and consultants. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Transportation Research Board and the Federal Highway Administration. Other participating organizations included the Federal Railroad Administration; the Federal Transit Administration; the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials; the American Road and Transportation Builders Association; the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations; ITS America; the International Bridge, Tunnel, and Turnpike Association; and the Surface Transportation Policy Project.
