The National voluntary Laboratory Accredition Progam (NVLAP) accredits testingand calibration laboratories that are found competent to perform specific tests or calibrations, or types or tests or calibrations. NIST Handbook 150 sets forth the basic procedures under which NVLAP operates, and the general accredition requirements for testing and calibration laboratories. Sections 4 and 5 and the annexes of the handbook contain the general requirements that testing and calibration laboratories must meet if they wish to demonstrate that they operated a quality system, are technically competent, and are able to generate technically valid results.
