摘要

The Aberdeen Pesticide Dumps Site is a group of five formerly contaminated areasin and around the town of Aberdeen, in Moore County, North Carolina. The areas include the Farm Chemicals formulation plant, which operated from the mid-1930s through to 1987, and four areas where wastes containing pesticides were disposed of the Fairway Six, Twin Sites, McIver Dump, and Route 211 areas. After extensive pesticide contamination was discovered in groundwater and on-site soil, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) placed the site on its National Priorities List (NPL) on March 31, 1989. As of June 2001, EPA and certain potentially responsible parties (PRPs), or the companies have removed or remediated site-related contamination with exception of groundwater which is undergoing long-term remediation and monitoring. Soil cleanup is now complete.
