The study concerns one-family house builders' readiness to environmentally friendly construction methods. The main interest is in builders attitudes towards environmentally friendly construction methods and energy saving. The method is a questionnaire study. The results are complemented with interviews of suppliers of prefabricated houses. The interviews supplement the data. The builders value comfort as the most important characters of the house, the facilities' suitability for own needs and the building's durability. Also low energy consumption is quite important. In principle the builders' attitudes towards environmentally friendly construction methods are very positive. But in the decision making there are other attributes that are more important. There is still work to be done to increase eco-efficient construction. The most important steps are surveys, communication and marketing. It is always important to emphasise the benefits of the family.
