Distance to Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities among Those with Alcohol Dependence or Abuse. The DASIS Report for August 23, 2002

One important component of access to health care is geographic accessibility, or how difficult it is for someone to travel for treatment. This report examines measures of geographic accessibility to substance abuse treatment by analyzing the distance between the location of substance abuse treatment facilities and the location of those who could benefit from alcohol treatment, that is, those identified as meeting the criteria for alcohol dependence or abuse as presented in DSM-IV.
