Albania Short Term Power Sector Rehabilitation Projects. Final Report: Volume 2 - Main Report

The United States Trade and Development Agency awarded a grant to the Government of Albania for the purpose of performing a siting and feasibility study for the development of a new thermal generation facility. MWH Management Consulting was retained to conduct two tasks. Task One was to evaluate and select the best site, technology, and fuel for a new base load, thermal generation facility. Task Two was to conduct a feability study to evaluate the technical requirement as well as the environmental, economic, and financial viability of the generation facility at the selected site. On June 21, 2002, the Albanian Ministry of Industry and Energy agreed with MWH's recommendation that it proceed to Task Two. This report documents the results of the feasibility study and reconfirms, where appropriate, the results and recommendations included in the Siting Report.
