摘要

The project aims to develop a compact, low-cost, high-resolution millimeter-wave sensor and demonstrate its use in real time measurements of surface conditions, including transverse profiles, micro/macro textures, and segregation. Compared to other technologies, millimeter waves have two uniquely distinct characteristics that can be exploited for non-destructive, high-resolution surface measurements: higher frequencies and larger absolute bandwidths. These characteristics together can produce a system that has fine resolution and small size.
