Assessment and Optimisation of Operation and Maintenance of Offshore Wind Turbines

This paper describes two models for modeling the O&M aspects of offshore wind farms. One has been developed by TU-Delft, and the other one by ECN Wind Energy. The features and benefits of both models are illustrated by means of a case study for the 500 MW DOWEC wind farm. The cost modeling led to recommendations for optimizing the O&M strategy of the DOWEC wind farm. The paper shows that both models give similar results with respect to the O&M costs. Differences in the downtime are clarified.
