District cooling is a hot topic currently due to its role to improve CHP plants efficiency and CO2 emission reduction. Especially DH energy driven absorption cooling can balance the production of heat and power in CHP plants. This thesis consists of the modeling and operation simulation of district heating driven absorption chillers, and the application in existing DH systems; room units for integrated heating and cooling duty; and the energy metering and billing solution. In some European and Asian countries, DH systems are commonly used due to the cold winter, but separate summer electric power driven compression chillers are used for summer cooling. The system means big initial investment to install two separated systems for building air condition. The integration of building cooling with existing heating systems sounds a nice solution to provide building air condition round the year. The model of DH water driven absorption chillers was established, based on it computer simulation program was developed. By using the program, a lot of simulations were done so as to address the solutions to improve chillers' performance and the application in DH systems. The combined building cooling and domestic hot water production system was developed and simulated. Using driving water exit from chiller's generator to heat domestic hot water so as to reduce driving water return temperature to DH network is studied in detail. The research results show that the system with helps of two thermal storage tanks can fully realize the production and meet all requirements of buildings and DH network.
