Michigan's Forest Resources in 2001;Forest Service resource bulletin

The North Central Research Station's Forest Inventory and Analysis (NCFIA) program began fieldwork for the sixth forest inventory of Michigan in 2000, in partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. This inventory initiates the new annual inventory system in which one-fifth of the field plots (considered one panel) in the State are measured each year. A complete inventory consists of measuring and compiling the data for all plots (or five panels). Once all panels have been measured, each will be remeasured approximately every 5 years. For example, in Michigan, the field plots measured in 2001 will be remeasured in 2006.
