Snabbsnigelmetoden: En Iterative Metod foer Utvaerdering av Simuleringsprogram (The Quick-Coil Method).

Today there are several existing methods available for developing computer simulation programs. However, there are no such methods in place for evaluating existing programs at FOI's Department of Defense Analysis. The aim of this report is to present a method which will give support to analysts in evaluating simulation programs that are, or will be, used at FOI. The Quick-coil method focuses on general surveys, which means that the method is designed to provide the analyst with a quick synopsis rather than an exhaustive analysis. As a result of a comprehensive study, several conclusions were reached regarding the requirements for such a method. The two most important of which were used as the basis for the design of the Quick-coil method: (1) It is critical to ensure that the program addresses the right questions before resources are spent on verifying the resultant answers; (2) The potential program user is the individual best suited to determine whether the program asks correct questions. Consequently, the Quick-coil method is focused on defining the relevant questions and testing whether the program answers these questions. Less effort is spent on validation and verification of simulation results. The evaluation process is called the Quick-coil method, since the iterative nature of the process can be illustrated as a coil, and that the method is designed to provide timely results.
