This Workshop is centered on the traditional issues of this appointment, but some interesting 'hot' topics are also discussed, as the recent withdrawal from the market of refecoxib. In the first session studies on drug utilization in the clinical practice are presented. In this session the preliminary data on Italian drug utilization (January-September 2004) are also shown. The second session presents studies on the evaluation of efficacy-safety profile of drugs. The last session is dedicated to the clinical applications of experimental evidence, in particular the rofecoxib case and the problems related to atypical antipsychotics in the treatment of patients with dementia.
