FAA Has Opportunities to Reduce Academy Training Time and Costs by Increasing Educational Requirements for Newly hired Air Traffic Controllers

This report presents the results of our audit of the Federal Aviation Administrations (FAA) training process for newly hired air traffic controllers. The objective of our audit was to determine if FAA has considered alternative approaches that could expedite the training process and reduce costs associated with training new controllers. Our audit focused on training provided at the FAA Academy and was conducted from April through July 2005.
