Improving Dewatering of Wastewater Biosolids Using Innovative Approaches

The goal of this project is to increase the dewatered solids content of biosolids (sludges) by incorporating various treatments with traditional dewatering processes using the moisture distribution in sludge as a theoretical framework. The specific objectives of the project are: (1) to determine the inherent dewaterability of various types of biosolids, including developing a centrifuge test for predicting dewaterability; and (2) to determine the effects of various biosolids pretreatments on dewaterability.
