This summary report represents efforts that began at the National Conference on Tobacco and Health Disparities (NCTHD) held in December 2002, in Palm Harbor, Florida. The conference planning committee, which included a diverse group of researchers and practitioners, worked to identify key funding organizations and individuals from academic institutions and community-based organizations to participate in this meeting. The NCTHD was the first scientific effort to review the current research, identify gaps, and develop a comprehensive research agenda to eliminate tobacco-related disparities.
