Approximately 2.1 million children under age 15 are living with HIV/AIDS, including almost 1.3 million in the 15 focus countries of the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (the Emergency Plan). HIV-positive children are especially vulnerable and, without treatment, the majority of infected children die before they are two years of age.
