摘要

Responsible environmental stewardship is critical to sustainable aquaculture. Environmental deterioration can result from poor aquaculture practices. Indeed, competing resource demands from society now make good environmental practices essential. A waste management plan is composed of a variety of best management practices (BMPs), and is an effective way to prevent or reduce pollution generated from aquaculture production facilities. A waste management plan must be tailored to each operation and site because of unique site characteristics, water quality goals, customized facility practices, and management operations objectives. The Idaho Waste Management Guidelines for Aquaculture Operations, with site specific information, will be used to develop a waste management plan to meet water quality goals. This plan will address Idaho's water quality concerns associated with aquaculture in response to the federal Clean Water Act (CWA) and Idaho Water Quality Standards and Wastewater Treatment Requirements.
