On July 5, 2005, at approximately 1200 hours, an unplanned riser disconnect occurred on the Ensco (hereinafter referred to as Contractor or Ensco) semi-submersible drilling unit 7500 (hereinafter referred to as the Rig), resulting in the release of 710 barrels of synthetic-based mud. The incident occurred on Anadarko Petroleums (hereinafter referred to as Operator or Anadarko) Lease OCS-G 21810, Green Canyon Block 652, in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM), offshore the State of Louisiana. This is a report of the accident.
